Moraine Valley Community College faculty have been awarded two major National Science Foundation (NSF) grants totaling nearly $2 million to lead national efforts in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity education.

Dr. Kristine Christensen, professor of computer information systems, secured an Advanced Technological Education grant for the Cybersecurity Career Awareness and Exploration Initiative. The project will develop a national repository and toolkit to help advisors, counselors, and educators guide students into cybersecurity careers—highlighting the diverse pathways and opportunities across the field. Dr. John Sands, professor of local area networks, will direct the Leveraging Artificial Intelligence Skills in Community College Classrooms and Technical Careers project. This three-year initiative will train faculty across disciplines to integrate AI tools, ethics, and applications into teaching and learning, creating a campus-wide AI resource library and sharing best practices nationwide.
