COPE (Committee On Political Education) funds are voluntary contributions made by association members to support the political initiatives of Local 1600 and the Illinois Federation of Teachers. Since it is illegal to use dues money for political action, the COPE funds ensures that faculty members have a voice in the local and state political levels. Faculty members cannot advocate for the needs of students and colleges if they cannot be heard.
