In response to the recent uprisings prompted by police shootings of innocent African Americans, combined with continual, perpetuated societal injustices and inequities, the Anti-Racism and Equity Committee, a subcommittee of the Moraine Valley Faculty Association was created to be a catalyst to inform and support Faculty Association members in learning how structural racism and inequities impact pedagogy, worldviews and lives. Through its work, the committee seeks to provide reflective, informative, educational opportunities, discussions and initiatives. This work will be in an effort to partner with faculty in developing and/or enhancing an anti-racist, inclusive ethos and pedagogical framework. An ethos and a framework that we believe could more aptly meet the learning needs of and retains Moraine Valley’s changing, diverse student population.
