On November 22, 2021, the Moraine Valley community lost a great friend and colleague. Tina Allen was an instructor in the Developmental Math Department since 2012. Tina’s cheerful attitude and sense of humor brought a bright spot to anyone who had the privilege of working with her. She could always be counted on to make you smile or laugh.
In her time at Moraine Valley, Tina was involved in many of our departmental activities. She enthusiastically joined our mastery-based learning team during the 2010s and most recently was working on our Math 096 (Mathematical Reasoning) course curriculum.
While the Moraine Valley community mourns our loss, my heart cannot help but go out to her husband Kenny, and her three children: JJ (8), Brianna (7), and Quinn (3). Please keep them in your thoughts as they continue life’s journey without Tina. I cannot imagine the loss they must be feeling. She was always talking about practices, games, and gymnastics meets with her family.
It is with sadness that we say goodbye to a great friend, mother, colleague, and teacher. I will cherish the memories I have of Tina, as I am sure everyone who knew her will do the same.
