A MESSAGE TO OUR MEMBERS

On Tuesday, April 2nd, elections will be held for four positions for the Moraine Valley Community College Board of Trustees. We were very honored to meet with candidates running for these board positions all of whom bring talent and experience to their candidacies. In this election, voters will have to choose from these very well-qualified members of our community who clearly care about the future of Moraine Valley.

The Moraine Valley Faculty Association, the Moraine Valley Adjunct Faculty Organization, and the Moraine Valley Support Staff Association support the following candidates:

–Ms. Sandra S. Wagner (for 6 year term)
–Mr. Joseph P. Murphy (for 6 year term)
–Ms. Bernadette Barrett (for 6 year term)
–Mr. Daniel E. Casey (for 2 year term)

As sitting Trustees, Ms. Wagner and Mr. Murphy have over 36 years of combined service to our college. They have demonstrated an ability to work with a range of board members and administrators during their tenure. They have been a steady hand guiding the college through good and bad times. They have clearly worked to support the long-term good of the college putting the needs of students and the community first.

Mr. Casey is also a sitting Trustee who was recently appointed to fill a vacancy. In the short time he has been on the Board, he has demonstrated a healthy curiosity by asking good questions. The knowledge and experience he brings is a nice compliment to the Board. His good work in this short time should earn him another opportunity to serve.

Although not currently a Trustee, Ms. Barrett’s background and commitment to the community would be a welcome addition to the Board. Ms. Barrett has a demonstrated knowledge of working within public bodies as well as serving as an advocate for members of our community.

Historically, the Moraine Valley Faculty Association, the Moraine Valley Adjunct Faculty Organization, and the Moraine Valley Support Staff Association have worked in a spirit of partnership with the Moraine Valley Board of Trustees to offer affordable, high-quality education to our district. Our associations seek to maintain a culture of innovation, cooperation, and integrity within our campus community. We believe that these candidates will help us maintain our high standards and record of success.

We urge you to vote on Tuesday, April 2nd, and we urge you to vote for Wagner, Murphy, Barrett, and Casey.
